A SECURITY firm offering surveys of York residents' homes is being investigated by trading standards officers.
The company, which officers said had targeted mainly older and vulnerable people, telephones them asking if they are aware of high burglary rates in the area and offering surveys.
If they agree, attempts are made to sell them an expensive security system.
Elizabeth Levett, City of York Council's trading standards manager, said: "Residents should be aware that anyone who phones them or calls them without invitation should be treated with extreme caution."
