Acomb suffered a 4-1 reverse against top-of-the-table Harrogate II in division two of the Yorkshire League.
In a tight first half Jamie Robinson had the first chance to open the scoring but his goal-bound effort produced a fine save from the Harrogate 'keeper.
Acomb did break the deadlock mid-way through the first half, though, when a cross from captain Paul Wright was deflected into the goal by a Harrogate player.
However, Harrogate equalised on the stroke of half-time as the team went in level.
In an action-packed second half, 'Gate took the lead and, soon after, Acomb lost their 'keeper with a card and Robinson had to go in goal.
Acomb worked hard but could not break 'Gate down and two late goals gave the hosts a flattering win.
Acomb Ladies remain unbeaten following their 4-1 victory over Lockwood Park.
Acomb pressed hard and from a short corner routine Karen Bedizen struck home.
Park pushed forward and equalised three minutes later, but Sally Banks set Kerry Rafton up to regain the lead.
After the break Acomb came out strong and Rafton scored again from a superb corner routine and bagged her hat-trick half way through the second half to complete the victory.
