A POSTAL worker was taken to York District Hospital after he came off his bicycle while riding through the city.
Cycling paramedic Mark Inman was first on the scene and said the man, thought to be aged in his 30s, came off his bike as he turned off Piccadilly into Merchant Gate just after 2pm yesterday.
Mr Inman said the man was not working at the time of the accident and had been cycling home from a shift at the sorting office in York.
Toni Linfoot, who works in Greens Furniture World opposite the scene of the accident, said: "We heard a crash and we saw him tumbling over on the road.
"We were worried because we thought he went over on his head, but we are just glad he's okay."
The man was taken to York District Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for an arm injury.
At about 4.20pm yesterday a woman also came off her bicycle at the junction of Lendal Bridge and Rougier Street, York
Ambulance crews were called to the scene, but a spokeswoman said that the woman, thought to be aged 35, was not seriously injured.
