ACCOUNTANTS in York have made a special plea to Chancellor Gordon Brown to help rural businesses as well as farmers in the vicinity of the city.
David Walker, president of the York Society of Chartered Accountants, has pleaded with the Chancellor to remember the plight of the region's rural ventures when he makes his Pre-Budget Report next Tuesday.
Mr Walker, of Botting & Company, Clifton Moor, said: "While we welcome the relief for crisis-hit farmers, we are annoyed that rural businesses get nothing."
