YORK City number two Adie Shaw has warned the Minstermen against looking too far ahead after the draw for the second round of the FA Cup lined up a tasty clash with Second Division Reading.
City will meet Reading in the next round at Bootham Crescent on December 8, providing they win their first round replay on Tuesday, November 27, at home to Colchester United - following their 0-0 draw on Saturday.
Despite facing opposition from a higher division again, the prospect of tackling the Biscuit Men should hold no fear for the Minstermen.
When the two sides clashed at the same stage last season, the first game ended 2-2 in a true cup thriller marked by a stunning Alex Mathie strike.
Against the odds, City then went to the Madejski Stadium and won the replay 3-1 to book their place in the third round and a mouth-watering clash at Premiership Leicester City.
Shaw welcomed the chance for City to test their skills against opposition from a higher division, but warned City could not afford to count their chickens.
"It is a game we can hopefully look forward to, but I cannot stress enough we have still to get through the first round," he said.
"It is another good draw for us but we are not there yet and we have still got business to do against Colchester.
"It was a cracking game against Reading down there last year and no one expected us to get a result there.
"If we do get through, they will be looking to put the record straight while our players will again be wanting to show what they can do against opposition from a higher league."
The draw gives City defenders Chris Smith and Neville Stamp a chance of lining up against their former club.
And it means ex-City winger Graeme Murty may also finally fulfil his wish of playing against his old club.
Murty missed both cup games last year through injury, denying City fans the chance to see him in action following his £700,000 move to the Royals in 1997.
Reading booked their place in the second round courtesy of a 1-0 win over non-League Welling United.
Whitby Town, featuring former City defender Graham Rennison, produced one of the performances of the weekend when the North Yorkshire non-League outfit held Division Three leaders Plymouth Argyle 1-1.
Should Whitby prosper on their travels to the South West then another home tie awaits them - with either Aldershot or Bristol Rovers set to make the trip to the Turnbull Ground.
