CUP kings Pickering Town came from behind to see off the challenge of Buxton in the Northern Counties East League Cup.
The Pikes, who face Midlands outfit Stewarts and Lloyds in the last 64 of the FA Vase, continued their success in cup competitions with a 2-1 win over their premier division rivals.
Second half strikes from Gary Chapman and Phil O'Reilly were enough to see them through.
"It was a good performance and it's nice to be in the next round of the competition," said boss Jimmy Reid.
"The first half wasn't brilliant, but the lads upped it in the second and once they had done that there was only ever going to be one result."
Selby Town went out of the League Cup when they went down to a 1-0 defeat at Goole in a disappointing game.
The first half was a drab affair with the only excitement coming when Goole keeper Phil Dobson came out of his area to clear a ball and lost possession, but unfortunately for the Robins the ball was eventually scrambled away by the Goole defenders.
The only goal of the game came in the 59th minute when a long ball was mis-headed by Richard Tomlinson which left veteran striker Andy Saville clean through on goal and he finished clinically.
The Robins pushed forward in search of an equaliser but they were unable to create any clear cut chances against a solid Goole defence.
Free-scoring Harrogate Railway enjoyed their second eight-goal thriller in five days when they beat Winterton Rangers 6-2.
Rail', who drew with Goole 4-4 on Monday after trailing 4-1, were always in control as they progressed through to round three.
Leading scorer Steve Davey, who faces a 28-day ban, showed he will be missed by adding two more to his tally for the season, while Ian Harte, Ian McLean and Kevin Smith all got on to the scoresheet to add to the division one club's misery.
There was even a goal for debutant Paul Stansfield, who has joined the club on-loan from Harrogate Town.
Stansfield club-mates at Wetherby Road have moved up to second spot in division one of the UniBond League with a 5-1 win over Lincoln United.
Captain Robbie Whellans led by example with a hat-trick as Town gained revenge on the only side to beat them in the league this season.
Chris Hudson and Dave Merris also netted to move Town to four point the leaders Radcliffe Borough with two games in hand.
Tadcaster Albion also tasted revenge - but it was Mickleover Sports who were the victors in their NCEL division one clash.
Tadcaster had enjoyed a 2-1 success over the promotion chasing outfit earlier in the season, but Sports hit back to win 1-0.
Nestl Rowntree continued their run in the North Riding County Cup with a superb 2-1 win over Edgehill, but only after leaving it late.
Edgehill, from Scarborough, took the lead on the hour and despite all the efforts of Nestl's attack, looked set to go into the next round.
However, with four minutes remaining Rob Ellis dived in at the far post to nod his side level.
And two minutes later, Ellis sealed the tie with a carbon copy goal.
Assistant-boss Jon Reynolds said: "Edgehill will probably think that they were robbed as we scored twice in the dying moments, but over the 90 minutes we did enough to deserve the victory.
"We had enough chances, and should have been in front at half-time - it looked as if we would rue the misses.
"But we left it late and deserve to go through."
