A LOCAL man has been arrested in connection with an assault on 71-year-old York man Edwin Hopper, of Middleton Road, Acomb.
Mr Hopper suffered multiple fractures to his face, including injuries to his jaw, eye and palate in the attack on Monday night. He was today still very ill, but slightly improved, in the intensive care unit at York District Hospital. Mr Hopper, a father-of-five who has 18 grandchildren, was discovered at the bottom of the stairs at his home in Middleton Road, Acomb, after neighbours were alerted by loud banging.
