A NESTL lorry driver had a lucky escape today when his vehicle overturned and left the carriageway on the west-bound Copmanthorpe slip-road of the A64.
Police and two fire crews attended the scene at about 6.30am.
The lorry's load, which included Kit Kats, Aeros and Yorkies, was recovered by Nestl staff following the crash.
A passing motorist told the Evening Press: "Police traffic officers were putting the chocolate bars into stacks beside the road - it was a very strange sight."
A police spokesman said the slip-road would be closed at 11.30pm tonight for recovery of the lorry.
