IN response to Jane Wade's letter 'Stop moaning' (November 13), may I say that those of us who complain about fireworks do have plenty to worry about. Youth is irrelevant - these new fireworks are like bombs going off and frighten adults as well as the poor animals.

As for Bonfire Night being once a year it would be acceptable if it was celebrated on November 5, not for a month before and after and at 8am and throughout daylight hours.

...IN my day, Bonfire Night was on November 5 and that was it until next year.

Nowadays it starts two weeks before and goes on until two weeks after the fifth. Spare a thought for the pet owners at this time, one night we cope with, but every night with dogs shivering in the house is not on.

My neighbour has had to tranquillise her dog, not much fun and expensive for a pensioner.
