THERE are racing games, and there are racing games - but Lotus Challenge is simply a matter of style.
This doesn't match up in the traditional battle with Gran Turismo 3. But the graphics are smooth and fast, with plenty of off-track detail, and very pleasing on the eye.
The key area where Lotus Challenge loses out is in the car handling, although there are three different ways in which you can drive the car, so you may find one to suit you. All the same, steering can be sluggish.
But let's get to the part of the game that zings. The cars... oh my, the cars. This is the very definition of why the Lotus is such a fine car. Here you'll find the Elise, the Esprit, the Exige and even the Formula One or old Seven models. All are rendered in glorious detail.
The game also allows for damage to these beautiful creatures, so if you want to keep looking fine, you'll have to watch those bends. Damage also affects the way your car handles - so practice definitely pays off.
