THE Mayor of New York, Rudolph Giuliani, has written to the people of York thanking them for their thoughts following the September 11 terrorist attacks.
York's Lord Mayor, Irene Waudby, had passed on condolences on behalf of York's residents after the September 11 terrorist attacks.
Mr Giuliani said: "I know that all New Yorkers deeply appreciate your thoughts and prayers on behalf of the victims and their families.
"Inspired by countless examples of courage and generosity, we have met the worst of humanity with the best of humanity."
Councillor Waudby said today: "It touched me that they bothered to reply, with everything that they have got on their minds."
