HIGH-FLYING Dringhouses dumped Old Malton out of the York FA Saturday Senior Cup.
They deservedly triumphed 3-1 in the third round against the Leeper Hare York and District League premier division champions Old Malton.
Early Dringhouses pressure saw Craig McShane's goal-bound shot headed off the line by defender Kevin Wilkinson, but Dringhouses were not to be denied and after 15 minutes Karl Young netted a fine solo goal after going past a couple of defenders.
Dringhouses had further chances to increase the lead, but following a poor clearance the ball fell to Steve Boyd whose pinpoint pass found Phil Hill in the clear and levelled from 10 yards.
The second half got off to an explosive start with a thunderbolt shot from 20 yards by John Lake which gave the Old Malton 'keeper no chance.
Old Malton came back and Dringhouses were indebted to 'keeper Mick Conlon for two excellent saves but with 15 minutes remaining, Dringhouses made the game secure when following good play by Mark Scoreby, Young scored his second goal.
Bishopthorpe will meet Boroughbridge in the semi-finals after David Harrison's 20-yard shot gave them a 1-0 win over New Earswick.
Boroughbridge took a five-minute lead against Dunnington when Rob Timms headed in following a free-kick. Paul Vincent made it 2-0 following a great through ball from Les Gray.
After 63 minutes Miguel Lopez increased Boroughbridge's lead with a free kick and five minutes from time Ollie Uffindall made the final score 4-0.
Nestl Rowntree were on top in the first half against Pocklington, but as the game progressed Pocklington took the upper hand and with goals from Charlie Bond and Barry Garrett, went through to face Dringhouses in the last four.
Stamford Bridge, the holders of the York FA Saturday Junior Cup won through against T&L Selby with two second half goals from Ian Constable and Nick Rank.
Selby RSSC were 2-1 up at half-time against Stillington with Andrew Oldfield netting both their goals and James Inman scoring from the penalty spot for Stillington.
Shaun Linfoot equalised for Stillington and one minute into added time, Andrew Bannaman gave Stillington the lead for the first time. They must have thought the winner, but straight from the kick off Selby RSSC swept to the other end for Jason Chalkley to score and force the game into extra time.
Selby RSSC eventually ran out 5-3 victors with a close range shot from Mark Walker and a low drive by Paul Stephenson.
Steve Hodgson headed Slingsby into an early lead at Marton-cum-Grafton, but Marton were soon level via John Watson.
But the Beckett League side proved to be far too strong with goals from Darren Dyer (2), Colin Storey, Neil Jackson Hodgson for a 6-1 Slingsby victory.
