DRAX Ladies proved far too strong for St Johns in division one of the York Badminton League, sweeping to a 9-0 whitewash.
Sue Matchett and A Spivey took the best Drax return with three wins for a 90-19 return.
In ladies division two, University Student Ladies visited Knavesmire and played well to record a 6-3 win. Heather Toner and Caroline Goulby took the Student honours with three wins for 92-65, including a tough 17-14 15-14 victory over Lisa Metcalf and Chira Secchi.
University Student Ladies completed a good week for their team with an 8-1 home win over Market Weighton. Heather Turner and Jo Ladds put in a good Student display with three wins for 100-47. Sue Smith and Sue Durston picked up Market Weighton's consolation with an 11 and 10 win over Claire Nelson and Alex Darlington.
University Student Men entertained York RI and went down 8-1 at the campus sports centre. Tim Jarvis and Tim Vickers topped the Institute averages with three wins for 90-56. Russell Binns and Mike Jones were the only Student success with a 7 and 2 victory over Stuart Fieldhouse and D Wright.
Drax Men sprung a minor surprise in mens one when they won 5-4 at IT Sports. Phil Brunyard and Andrew Neal put in the match-winning display with three wins for 113-67, but the Drax third pairing of Steve Parr and John Formby kept their nerve in the deciding rubber to beat Phil Dyson and Charles Stuart 9-15 15-9 15-13.
Liam Widdington and George Noble took three wins for St Johns as their side beat Knavesmire 7-2 in men's two at Heworth Croft. Widdington and Noble's three wins for 101-53 included an 11-15 15-5 15-9 success over Andy Limbert and Dave Brogden who took both Knavesmire wins.
RI Tuesday/Thursday 'B' were made to work hard for their 5-4 home win over YUSC in mens three. The match was effectively decided in the fifth rubber in which Dave Thompson and Brian Williams beat Andy Brown and Keith Locker 15-5 10-15 15-10. Brown and Locker took two Staff club wins, while Thompson and Williams went on to take all three for a total of 124-88.
In mens three, Pocklington were good value for a 7-2 win at Drax 'B'.
All three Pocklington pairs are made up of father and son combinations and the Burrows family's Mark and Matthew took the honours with three wins for 104-64, although they were given a tough time by Ken Walker and A Boyes before winning 15-2 14-17 15-8.
Sheriff Hutton clinched a narrow 5-4 win over Huntington 'A' in mixed two. Theresa Roberts-Hardy and Clive Debenham took three Huntington wins for 106-77, including a narrow 17-16 17-15 over Jo Wade and Dave Grieve.
York RI 'B' beat University Students 'B' 8-1 in mixed division two. Peter and Carol Howes took the Institute's best return with 90-31, while Sam Gardner and Jo Ladds took the Institute win with a 14-15 15-9 15-2 over Tim Ross and Sarah Thompson.
Tadcaster scored a 5-4 home win over Fulfordgate 'A' in mixed division four. John Greenhalgh and Cath Topping ensured Tadcaster's success with three wins for 102-57, this included an 11 and 4 over Maureen Medlar and Matt Hobman, who earned two Fulfordgate wins.
