Heworth 'A', despite fielding two reserves, increased their lead to seven points with a 5-2 win over Fulford 'B' in the York Conservative clubs' Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League.
The win was achieved by John Anderson, Richie Burdett, Jason Milner, Dave Taylor and Clive Whyte, who fought back to take pink and black to tie and then pot the re-spotted black to snatch the frame from John Futter.
Gary Bolton and George Toone were successful for Fulford as they defeated Heworth's two reserves.
Acomb 'A' held on to second place despite losing 5-2 to Bootham 'B', who are the only other unbeaten side this season. Bootham's winners were Jeff Brown, Tim Fillingham, Fred Hough, George Long and Ray Stamp. Mick and Paul Frampton replied for Acomb. Bootham 'B' stay in third spot.
Bootham 'A' also won 5-2 against Acomb 'B' to move up two places to fourth. Brian Coulson, Mark Darley, Colin Robinson, Ken Taylor and George Tingle won for Bootham.
John Hutchinson, (who defeated an out-of-touch John Darley), and Peter Lawson with a black ball victory over Barry Rankin, won for Acomb 'B'.
Heworth 'B' moved off the bottom of the league with a surprise 4-3 win over Fulford 'A', who have won only one game this season.
Richard Stroughair (43 break) levelled the match for Fulford after successes by Wayne Puleston and Alan Reed. Then Mike Braithwaite (26 break) took the final frame which complemented wins by Brian Birch, Alf Appleby and Keith Watkinson for Heworth.
Five players remain level with five wins from five matches in the Willsden Steel Player of the Year Competition.
These include Jason Milner (Heworth) who won in 1998 and 1999, and Clive Whyte (Heworth) who has been runner-up for the past two seasons.
Richard Stroughair (Fulford) made a 43 break this week, but Clive Whyte (Heworth) with 58 still leads in the North Wolds Printers' Competition.
Acomb recovered from losing the first two frames to record a 5-2 win over Heworth, helped by three black ball successes in the last four frames.
This win consolidated their position as leaders with a two point cushion in the Slater Cup Pairs Snooker League.
Both teams had a black ball success as they each won three frames but Fulford secured the aggregate by 16 to defeat Bootham 4-3. Bootham continue in second place and Fulford are third, a further four points in arrears.
Acomb continued their unbeaten run with a 7-0 whitewash of Fulford which gave them a three points lead in the Faber Shield Billiards League.
The winning team was Mick Frampton, Ian Gillies, John Hutchinson (who won by just two points), Keith Myers, Bob Ventress (who defeated Richard Stroughair by five points) and Trevor Ventress.
Fulford are anchored in bottom spot with only six points.
Bootham 'A' held on to second place with a 5-2 win over their 'B' team. Eric Darley, Colin Robinson (30 break), Ken Taylor (44, 36, 22 breaks) and George Tingle won for the 'A' team, with replies by Tom Bamford and Tim Fillingham.
Mick Frampton, Ian Gillies and Ken Taylor lead the way in the Cameo Engraving Player of the Year (billiards) as the only players undefeated after four matches.
Ken Taylor's 65 break in the first match of the season makes him the leader in the Cameo Engraving Highest Break Competition.
