DAME Judi Dench, John Barry and John Shannon are to be granted York's highest honour by becoming Freemen of the City.
Their accomplishments are very different.
Both Dame Judi and Mr Barry left their home city to find an international stage for their talents.
John Shannon has never left. Yet his substantial contribution to the conservation of York has been enjoyed by a global audience, even if his name is not known far beyond the Bar Walls.
Tourists from around the world love to visit the restored Fairfax House and stroll by the Minster along pedestrianised Deangate - just two of the achievements of the man they call Mr York.
