QUEEN Margaret's School hockey teams have enjoyed notable success on the county stage.

The under-16s at Escrick followed up their area success by representing York and District and winning the county tournament.

Victories over Claro Craven (represented by Ripon Grammar School, 3-0), Hamble-ton Richmond (Queen Mary's, 1-0), and Scarborough Ryedale (Whitby Community College, 3-0) saw them to the title.

The girls will now represent North Yorkshire at the regional stage of the competition in Leeds on November 17.

The U15s team are following hot on the heels of their older colleagues, having become the York and District champions.

Queen Margaret's beat St Peter's 1-0 and The Mount School 5-0 to set up a final against Tadcaster Grammar and after a closely-fought contest they won 2-0.

While the school has enjoyed success on the team front, a number of pupils have earned call-ups to the county side.

Amanda Watkins, Sophie Duncanson and Elizabeth Lovett have been called up to the U18s, while Laura Cooper, Jessica Parkinson, Charlotte Baker and Mary Jane Simpson are named in the U16s. Simpson is also in the North's U16s squad.

The U15s see call-ups for Alex Glatman, Kristina Stiller, Jessica Frances and Anna Jacobs.
