Cygnet 'B' pulled out all the stops to destroy Osbaldwick's unbeaten record in John Smith's York Men's League division two.
Only Jack Hodgson found the double finish in the singles and Cygnet carried on the good work to win 7-2.
Following a fine opener from Mick Brookes, Holgate honed in on the leaders with a 5-4 win at Green Tree 'A', taken by Rob Atkinson-Pete West, while Groves grabbed the last two to pip Phoenix. Dave Atkin and Chris Flanagan combined to get the decider.
Horseman hit the tons-plus and Paul Bartlett banged a bullseye finish in a 7-2 win at Sun 'B', who had a splendid 21 darts from Wayne Pagdin. Alan Ashby put Slip 5-1 up at Railway Institute 'A', whose win was provided by Pete Watson.
Sun 'A' maintained their narrow lead in division one by beating Victoria Vaults 6-3. Tony Cooper threw 180 for 19 darts, backed by 20 from Chris Thompson. Outstan-ding for Vaults was Keith Mercer.
Gary Wensley churned out a brilliant 14 darts at Shepherd 'A' and Green Tree were in with a chance at 4-3 up. Shepherd had Mick Willsden gaming in 21 darts then coming in with a 180 to take the decider with Rod Thompson.
Barry Noble went into top gear to record 18 darts and John Crowe supported well but Dringhouses succumbed 6-3 to big scoring by Trafalgar in the late games. Paul Keers shot 16 darts, while Rich Stevenson registered four tons.
Cygnet 'A' captain Keith Turner was the top player in a 6-3 win over Flag, while Steve Swinthenbank (21) and an outer-then-bull finish from Kevin Graham, backed by a solid Noel Cooper game, failed to save Saddle.
Shepherd 'B' came good in the later stages and Phil Carter partnered Steve Keenaghan to collect a last-game win.
Second-placed Poacher held position with a 6-3 win at Yearsley. Shaun Day led with a sparkling 17 darter and Ray McInally put them 4-0 ahead with 21 darts.
