THE LATEST addition to a York family will continue a long tradition at her christening later this month - by wearing a 120-year-old christening gown.
The gown is the proud possession of Tang Hall resident Veronica Jendrek, who was christened in it herself "a few years ago."
Before that, Veronica's mother and grandmother were both christened in the gown.
Now, Veronica's great-niece Niamh-Alise is set to carry the tradition on when she is christened at St Aelred's Church, in Melrosegate.
Niamh-Alise, who is 16 weeks old, is the daughter of Veronica's niece, Sam Richardson, and her husband Neil, who live at Huntington.
Veronica said: "The gown is a family heirloom for us, so I suggested to Sam that we use it and she thought it was a great idea.
"It's been wrapped up at home for a long time so it will be lovely to see it used again - it will make what will already be a special day even more special for us."
