Lord Capitaine, who bounced back to winning form at Sedgefield last month, returns to the same course tomorrow with good prospects of gaining a repeat victory.
Trained at Crook in County Durham by Howard Johnson, the gelding lines-up for the Paddock Bookmakers' Handicap Chase over a gruelling three miles and three furlongs, the same distance as he won over on his latest start.
Lord Capitaine had nine lengths to spare that day over Blue Moon, having being ridden clear from the second-last fence to win in emphatic style.
Adie Smith takes the mount again tomorrow and can guide Lord Capitaine to another triumph.
The Sedgefield Selling Hurdle, also over three miles and three furlongs, is the target for Eileen Alanna, another recent course-and-distance winner.
The nine-year-old showed plenty of determination to beat Brian James by a neck on her latest appearance.
In the day's feature race, the John Wade 'Birthday Boy' Handicap Hurdle, which has £12,500 up for grabs, Brian Ellison has chosen the event to reintroduce Latalomne, who made quite a name for himself as a novice chaser last season, winning all his three starts.
Fences will again be Latalomne's prime target this winter, but the seven-year-old can show his skills over the minor obstacles tomorrow as he prepares for what promises to be an exciting campaign. Vinny Keane has the mount.
Ellison and Keane, who have a good record on this course, can also hit the target with the tough and consistent Arcticaldi in the Hunswick Handicap Chase.
Andy Scott has his team in fine form and Free Will can be another winner for the trainer in the Newton Aycliffe Novices' Hurdle.
This former useful Flat performer made an encouraging start to his hurdling career when chasing home Mytimie at Kelso.
Sure to have benefitted from that experience, he can go one better under Richard Guest and is awarded the Nap vote.
