RESIDENTS in a quiet New Earswick street were woken by police breaking down a neighbour's door today.
People living in Jasmine Close reported police cars and vans pulling into the street, at 7.50am.
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: "They battered down the door and went inside while other officers took photographs of the entrance and a car outside.
"They have taken bags out all morning and I think they took out a computer. We live a nice quiet life around here and we don't want to be involved in this kind of thing."
Police at the scene declined to comment on the incident, but said more details would be available later today. The property involved is a top-floor flat in a semi-detached house. Neighbours said it was occupied by a man, and a male friend had recently moved in.
