THIS is the man charged with putting Arriva Trains Northern to rights.
Ray Price has jumped out of the frying pan into the fire by leaving Railtrack to take over the reins as managing director of embattled operator Arriva Trains Northern.
Mr Price starts work on Monday, the same day the new winter timetable comes into effect, with ten per cent of services cut due to an acute driver shortage.
The 46-year-old will be no stranger to the difficulties of modern railways after five years at Railtrack, the last three as zone director on the East Anglia Zone.
Euan Cameron, managing director of Arriva Trains, said: "I am delighted that Ray is joining Arriva. His wealth of rail industry experience will enable him to ensure that Arriva Trains Northern is focused on the development and delivery of quality services."
