TEENAGE netball skills returned at the right time for a York woman when she was challenged to 'shoot some baskets' to win a brand new energy-efficient central heating boiler.

The challenge - score as many baskets as you can from five throws - was made to people visiting the recent Planet York energy efficiency fair.

The Evening Press-sponsored Planet York initiative is aimed at making York the leading city for energy efficiency in the UK.

The winner, Kate Lock, of Bishopthorpe Road, had such an eye for the basket she outscored her 6ft 5in husband, Stephen. Kate. Stephen and daughter, Isis, are now the proud owners of an Ideal Boilers isar boiler, installed by Thermabuild.

Kate said: "Stephen and I did consider ourselves to be quite aware of energy efficiency issues, but since Planet York began we are taking even more energy-saving measures. We are all really pleased with the boiler- all those years playing goal attack at netball came in handy after all."
