NORTH Yorkshire's recently dethroned world sidecar champion Steve Webster suffered a soggy swansong to the season, writes John McKenzie.
In the 'Festival of 1000 Sidecars', which could have been re-christened the 'Festival of 1000 Power-boats' so bad was the downpours that drenched the Mallory Park circuit, eight-times world champion Webster could only finish sixth. Ignition problems at the start of the race, which was trimmed to ten-laps, left Webster trailing the rest of the field. after suffering ignition problems. New world champion Klaus Klaffenbock was pipped into third place behind winner Steve Abbott and Bedlington's Ian Bell.
