EVERYTHING from the hottest new streetwear to the latest lingerie were paraded on the catwalk at the dazzling Evening Press Fashion Show.

The event, held in the University of York's Central Hall last night, attracted scores of fashion-lovers who went to check out the latest styles.

The professionally-choreographed show featured top outfits from 18 different companies, including casual, formal and bridal wear, as well as collections from students at York College and Selby College, and special parades of lingerie, hats and shoes.

Sponsors Jinnah Restaurants demonstrated traditional Eastern wear.

Prior to the show, a trade fair was also staged in the university's exhibition centre, which attracted hundreds of visitors.

Hair demonstrations were given by stylist Geoffrey Stuart, who invited visitors to join him on the podium, while Nail Bar One offered tips on manicures and pedicures, and Virgin Vie gave the latest make-up advice.

Visitors were greeted at the exhibition by the smell of delicious Indian food, served up by Staff from the Jinnah Restaurant who gave a cookery demonstration.

A raffle was held at the event to raise money for York Against Cancer.

Prizes, donated by several local companies, included a CD player, cuddly toys and a sweets hamper.

Pauline Lowery, of Thief Lane, York, visited the exhibition with her daughter-in-law Julie.

She said: "The stalls gave me lots of ideas for Christmas, particularly the make-up.
