VETERAN striker Ian Blackstone rolled back the years as he fired Harrogate Town to an impressive 1-0 win over UniBond League division one title rivals Radcliffe Borough.

David Donaldson sent Blackstone clear a minute after the break, and he made no mistake with a pin-point finish.

Radcliffe could have equalised but Dave Collins spurned a gilt-edged chance, while Town's Colin Hunter was denied by Danny Hurst.

The win leaves Town in fifth spot, six points behind the leaders Ossett Town but with four games in hand.

Selby Town increased their lead at the top of the Northern Counties East League premier division to three points after a 1-0 win over Glasshoughton at Flaxley Road.

Selby started the quicker of the two sides, with Pat Gaughan twice going close to opening the scoring.

The struggling visitors defended stubbornly but they had a slice of luck at the end of the first half when a Peter Collier shot hit the inside of the post and rebounded to safety.

The Robins kept up the pressure in the second half and they made the breakthrough in the 66th minute when Matthew Wain rolled a good ball into the path of Collier, who neatly tucked it just inside the post.

Glasshoughton staged a late rally but the Selby defence held firm with on-loan York City goalkeeper John Collinson having another confident game.

The Goole revival under new boss Steve Richards continued as they beat champions Brigg 1-0, with Andy Baldwin netting the only goal in the first half.

It was all action at The Park as Tadcaster Albion slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Yorkshire Amateur in NCEL division one.

Two red cards, two goals and a 15-minute delay as Amateur's John Ibbotson suffered a suspected broken leg ensured there were plenty of talking points after the match.

Ibbotson suffered the injury during a goalless first half, while Taddy's Kevin Duckworth and Amateur's Chris Smith both saw red after the break.

Goals from Graham Bingley and Martin Barnes settled the tie.

In the West Yorkshire League premier division, Knaresborough Town suffered an off-day as they lost 2-0 to Aberford Albion. Ian Hutchinson scored both goals.
