DRINGHOUSES went clear at the top of the Leeper Hare York and District League premier division after hitting Huntington for six.

Striker Mark Scoreby led the way with a hat-trick, including a penalty, after giving his side an early lead.

Huntington, with Paul Pemberton their best player, worked hard but found the home defence impenetrable.

Carl Young bagged two and John Lake a fantastic strike to finish 'Houses' scoring.

Third-placed Boroughbridge were beaten 3-0 at Rufforth, who deserved the points.

Martin Pepper netted twice in the first half and, after chances at either end, John Ayres notched the third. Despite some pressure, Bridge could not break through.

Nestl Rowntree won by the odd goal in seven in their mid-table battle at Crayke.

'Trees were quick off the mark, taking the lead within a minute through Pete Sinclair. John Gaughan made it two before Crayke drew level through Simon Wilson and Tim Jackson.

Rowntrees, with good passing play, added the vital strikes through Sinclair and Eddie Phillips.

Lowly New Earswick won 2-1 at Wigginton Grasshoppers thanks to goals by JJ Smith and Mick Corr.

The young Hoppers played good football but failed to capitalise on some good chances, Tom Mathews getting their only goal.

Bottom club Riccall went nap away to Dunnington but still lost 7-5.

Rob Hart hit a hat-trick for Dunnington and there were other goals for Chris Burgess, Simon Wood, Barry Tolworthy and Andy Rose, while Michael Carmady, Paul Brough (2), Stu Rose and Alan Jackson replied for Riccall, who also missed a penalty.
