IN recent weeks we have had America's top golfers refusing to visit England for the Ryder Cup.

The Australian rugby league squad had to be persuaded before reluctantly agreeing to come and play three or four matches here.

The England cricket party have dithered over whether they are brave enough to go and tour India. Now, six Chelsea footballers have refused to play for their team in Israel.

Such whimpish behaviour from senior professionals is pathetic! Sports people at the highest levels should show responsibility and continue to perform, rather than behave neurotically.

Thank goodness senior politicians and also the many humanitarian aid workers, are prepared to travel abroad.
