Clifton CC's Mark Wolstenholme has continued his development as one of the best up-and-coming riders with a superb ranking of 11th in the British Best All-Rounder Competition.

The competition takes in the best performances from the season over 50 miles, 100 miles and 12 hours, with the overall average speed deciding the placings.

And after sensational rides in the Bramley Wheelers 50 (one hour 54 minutes 13 seconds), the Derby Wheelers 100 (3-52-41) and the Elmet CRC 12-Hour (266.19 miles), 23-year-old Wolstenholme had an average speed of 24.745mph.

This meant Wolstenholme ,finished 19 positions higher than last season.

The annual end-of-season Inter-Club ten-mile Time Trial in Pickering was won by Mick Storey (Scarborough Paragon) in 22-07.

G Kearns (Malton Wheelers) was second in 22-52, while Clifton's fastest rider was Ian Kent in 23-34.

Other Clifton times - George Young 24-16, Arnie Pearson 25-16, Jerry Noble 25-53, Mickie Hornby 27-16, Phil Duston 27-51, Chris Carter 28-02, Les Osguthorpe 28-14, Cath Tatlock 28-19, P Ball 28-38 and Julia Coats 28-53.
