A FESTIVE card shop dedicated to raising money for charities in York and across the UK has been officially opened in the city.
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Irene Waudby, carried out the official duty at Cards for Good Causes, which has been set up in Martin-le-Grand Church, in Coney Street. Christmas cards, wrapping paper, Advent calendars and decorations are on sale in the shop, and 50 charities will benefit.
Shop manager Brian Turner said 81p in every £1 went straight to the good causes.
He said: "I think we have the largest selection of charity Christmas cards in York, as well as other goods. And although I manage the shop, I have an army of volunteers who help me."
