By the time most of you read this I will probably have run my second-ever race. I hope I've done you all proud.
At the time of writing, I am on the 'coach' to Redcar, where my race was being staged this afternoon - though when I say 'coach' I mean that in the loosest possible sense.
You see, it hasn't any seatbelts, in fact it hasn't got any seats, there is no coffee machine at the back and there are no toilets. I can't even see a driver.
In fact, this coach is more like a horsebox. Still, I'll have my mind on other things.
I read in yesterday's Evening Press that I am one of the rank outsiders for this race, and by the time you read this we'll know whether that status was justified.
All I can say is, there have been plenty of shocks down the years, and if I don't cause one this time there's always next time.
Most importantly, though, is the fact I've actually got to race again. I need to get more experience of racedays if I am to fulfil my trainer's faith in me and improve greatly next season.
Anyway, best go, the 'coach' is pulling into a petrol station and I want to nip out and buy some nibbles for the rest of the journey.
Oh, and I've also got to phone this copy through to the Evening Press sportsdesk. I hope it's not too late to get it into today's paper.
Regards,
Evening Press.
