MUSIC lovers in York are set for a festival of sonic proportions this weekend.
The SightSonic Digital Arts Festival comes to the city for the second year running, promising a number of exciting musical highlights.
Activities include Bong! Smack! - a massive sound installation written by Tony Myers, from the University of York music department, and Craig Vear, which will produce a tapestry of sound covering the entire city centre. Five of the city's bell towers, including York Minster, will be joined by an array of sound material created by people from York and around the world through the Internet, climaxing with a pyrotechnic finale.
The festival starts tonight at 7pm in the city centre and runs until Sunday.
