THE shock result in the second round of York FA Senior Minor Cup was the 5-3 defeat of Wigginton Grasshoppers by York RI.
Grasshoppers took a two-goal lead in the first five minutes but at half-time RI led 3-2 lead with goals from Paul Nicholson, Nick Balderson and Arthur Tegetmeier. Stewart Hartley added two goals in the second half for RI. Scorers for Grasshoppers were Tom Vasey, Matt Wash and Dale Waddington.
Pickering Town needed extra time to beat a strong Heworth side 2-1. Heworth turned round one up but Pickering equalised ten minutes into the second half with a penalty from Stuart Dickens. In the second period of extra-time Matthew Hood chipped the ball over the Heworth 'keeper.
Oliver Newby hit a hat-trick as Pocklington Town won 7-3 away to Carr Vikings.
Rawcliffe won 3-2 at home to Huntington with goals from Danny Rhodes, Peter Carney and Adam Chappelow.
James Barrett and Ian Robinson led the way with a hat-trick each as New Earswick Eagles trounced visitors Fulford 8-0.
