Heworth 'A' continued their unbeaten run with a 6-1 victory over Acomb 'B' aided by two black ball frame successes.

Heworth's winners were Richie Burdett, Jason Milner, Clive Whyte (58 break), Keith Lawrence (41, 25 breaks), Dave Taylor and Steve Burdett, who overcame Phil Carlton's 23 break to win on the black.

However, Acomb's John Hutchinson took the applause by inflicting the first league defeat on Neil Wood by one point.

Acomb 'A' moved into second place after a 7-0 whitewash of bottom placed Heworth 'B'. Acomb's winning team was Paul Clark, Mick Frampton, Ian Gillies, Richard Harris, Gerald Mackenzie, Keith Myers and Marcus O'Boyle.

The only other unbeaten team Bootham 'B' had a resounding 5-2 win over Fulford 'A'.

Tim Fillingham, Fred Hough and George Long all won on the black. Jeff Brown and Ray Stamp gained the other two points. Roger Gibson and Richard Stroughair replied for Fulford.

Bootham 'A' also won 5-2 against Fulford 'B' who were two players short.

John Darley (23 break), Barry Rankin (32, 22x2 breaks), Ken Taylor plus walk-overs by Brian Coulson and Peter Mills secured the points for Bootham. George Toone and Ray Thackway won for Fulford.

Clive Whyte (H) leads the way in the North Wolds Printers competition with a 58 break, followed by Ken Taylor (B) 45 and Keith Lawrence 41.

Only six players are undefeated after three matches in the Willsden Steel 'Player of the Year' competition.
