Focus Fireplaces York and District Table Tennis League champions Sessions 'A' opened their season with an 8-2 win over York RI 'A'.

Mick Wilcockson and Chris Nicholls each scored three wins for Sessions. York League newcomer Paul Noutch won one for RI.

Mark Smith scored three wins Poppleton 'A' but they lost 6-4 to Fulford Road WMC 'A'.

Paul Cresswell was unbeaten as Coneysthorpe 'B' won their first match of the season, beating Bootham Conservative Club 'B' 7-3.

In division two, Mike Cooper won three for Poppleton 'B' in their 7-3 win over Fulford Road WMC 'B'. The best game was the opening set between Cooper and Ed Wardman, which Cooper won 22-20, 21-19.

Nestl Rowntree 'B' drew 5-5 with INL 'C'

Jill Schofield won three as Nestl Rowntree drew 5-5 with INL 'C'. Martin Symons suffered his first defeat of the season, going down 22-20, 12-21, 8-21, to Schofield.

Richard Ingleby won three for Bootham Conservative Club 'C' as they beat Nestl Rowntree 'B' 6-4.

Howard Broadbent's three wins made sure of victory for BT 'A' against Northern Electric, whose Colin Dobson scored two wins.

In division three all the Poppleton teams are looking very strong. Poppleton 'D' team beat York RI 'E' 8-2, Alan Jones winning three.

Brian Milner won three for BT 'B' in their 8-2 win over Fulford Road WMC 'C'.

York RI 'F' are setting the pace in division five. They beat Poppleton 'F' 9-1, Dennis Chapman and Mike Dinsdale each winning three for RI.

Sessions 'C' won all the singles in their 9-1 victory over York RI 'H', who did well to win the doubles to avoid a whitewash.

Norwich Union 'A' beat their 'B' team 9-1 to be near the top of this division.

Richard Leafe showed he is one of the best players in the division with another three wins for York RI 'G' in their 5-5 draw with Shepherds 'B'.

Paul Gravett played well for Shepherds to win two along with Nigel Baker.

Richard Falkingham and Peter Thompson each won two for Nestl Rowntree 'C' in their 5-5 draw with INL 'D'.
