WHILE visiting my family in York last week I was walking with my small nephew in Goodramgate near Monk Bar, when I saw a bizarre sight of a large plastic gnome outside a shop.
It posed in the act of urinating, with water pouring forth into a bucket beneath, while a companion gnome was 'flashing'.
I then had the unenviable task of spending the rest of the afternoon explaining this away to my inquisitive three-year-old nephew.
I am not a prude, and certainly not without a sense of humour, but the prominent display of these novelty gnomes on the pavement is a blot on your beautiful city, and would probably be better suited to a tacky seaside resort.
