IN an error-strewn Yorkshire One derby, Pocklington came from behind to take the points at home to Beverley, with five second half goals from fly-half Kevin Bowling giving them a 15-5 success.
Pock made a lively start, but they lost a scrum against the head on Beverley's line and four penalties in a row took play to the other end where Beverley number eight Lee Gallagher plunged over from close range after ten minutes.
The game was notable for being referred by a petite Australian female, Michelle Colgrave. But Pocklington most certainly did not charm her as they found themselves at the wrong end of a 19-5 penalty count in the first half.
Numerous errors and the frequent penalty interruptions meant play seldom flowed, and with defences on top neither side looked like scoring a try - the nearest to a breakthrough coming late in the half when Pocklington centre Rob Nolan got away on an interception but was eventually cut down by the cover.
Pocklington showed more commitment after the interval, and with the penalties now evening out they dominated territorially for Bowling to kick four penalties and edge them ahead.
Beverley briefly tried to get back on terms in the last ten minutes. But Pocklington regained the initiative, and after hooker Darren Smith had a touchdown disallowed form a rolling maul, they worked the ball back to Bowling who sealed victory with a drop goal from the last kick of the day.
