THANK goodness someone has put into words what the users of the two day centres are all so worried about as rumours have been bandied about for more than a year ('Centres closure feared', September 27).
These centres cater for people of every level of learning disability, including my son who has a hearing impairment and couldn't possibly tell the City of York Council spokesman how much he relies on his centre.
There are many more with a communication problem and are understood by the staff at these centres.
The council's first job is to educate the community to accept people with a learning disability. Not by moving them en masse into an activity and outnumbering people already there, but by moving in two or three where they are more likely to be accepted.
This will take longer, perhaps years, but it will be more acceptable to the community.
