GREEN-FINGERED readers have a new place to find plants, seeds and flowers with the opening of the Evening Press Gardening Club shop today.
The shop, opposite our Walmgate offices, was opened by Evening Press editor Liz Page. Its first special offer saw readers claiming a free rose bush after a coupon appeared in the newspaper on Thursday.
Its opening is an off-shoot of our gardening club, which is run by Ripon-based Greenfingers Club Ltd, a company which also runs a club for our sister newspaper, The Northern Echo. The company's horticultural manager, Philip Swindells, said autumn was a busy time for gardeners with the time just right to plant rose bushes as well as bulbs and said members of the Evening Press Gardening Club would get ten per cent off all goods in the shop.
