RICCALL'S Rob Osman (Clifton CC) pulled off a fine result in the Lincoln Wheelers Road Race when he took second place to Ben Sheldon (VC Voodoo).
Osman attacked within the first mile of the 57-mile event, instigating the formation of a ten-strong break that had built up a three-minute lead by the 35-mile point.
Osman and Sheldon attacked again five miles later and succeeded in taking a one minute advantage over the chasing group: which had by now been caught by Phil Axe (Universal Cycle Centre), winner of the Clifton CC Road Race three weeks ago.
Axe continued in solo pursuit of the leading pair, but was ten seconds adrift at the finish, where Sheldon out-sprinted Osman up the final climb.
York's Paul Watson (Loughborough Students) overcame obstructive crosswinds to emerge victorious in Brough Wheelers' ten-mile time trial on the South Cave/Wrelton course.
