WHAT have they done?
On PlayStation 2, Red Faction was an enjoyable first person shooter with a cracking multiplayer game to boot, although admittedly not an online version.
Now the PC version has come out, and while the single player game remains intact, multiplayer has one big flaw. There are no computer-controlled opponents in the multiplayer game. So if you want to rustle up a battle, you'll need to find half a dozen others to play with, which restricts things mostly to gaming over the Internet, instead of with your friends in one location.
Such a simple omission is frustrating, especially when computer foes were present and correct in the PS2 version.
Other than that, Red Faction remains a fine sci-fi game, whose biggest selling point is the way in which you can use explosive effects to damage the terrain around you. Door locked? Blow it open. Caught in a crossfire? Drop a grenade, create a crater and hop in for cover.
A good game, but one which has been hamstrung by one crucial flaw.
