York RUFC under-11s got off to a great start at Selby in the first match following the move from nine players in the under-10s to 12 players in the under-11s.
The new positions were a two-man second row, Greg Turner and Aron Robinson, plus full-back Rhys Mills.
York's handling skills and support play were excellent and the team dominated in open play. York also had an excellent tackling game and by half time had taken a comfortable lead with tries by Matthew Appleton Luke Bowler, Ben Johnson and Sam Murgatroyd.
York switched the team positions around in the second half and more physical encounter ensued.
Prop Leroy Johnson showed much potential in his first game.
The visitors scored another four tries, two from Mills following some excellent passing, a second try for Ben Johnson and a typical forward's try from Greg Turner.
The under-11s' age group is also the first in which conversions are attempted following a try. Sam Murgatroyd was nominated as the main kicker and gave an excellent first time performance hitting the target with four of five attempts in a 50-5 victory.
