YORK District Sports Council thanks all sports clubs which took part in, and contributed evidence to, the consultation on tax relief for community amateur sports club meeting with the Government's tax policy team held at Dunnington and Grimston Sports Club. It is clear York District Sports Council is playing a leading role in the debate on tax relief for unpaid voluntary sports clubs. It was one of only three consultees in the whole Yorkshire region and the only sports council promoting the case for the voluntary sector.
A consultation document will be produced in the coming months on the Government's proposed changes in the tax laws.
It is crucial that as many sports clubs as possible in the York area respond to this consultation.
York District Sports Council will do everything possible to keep clubs informed of developments.
We are also supplying evidence to The Central Council for Physical Recreation, Sports England as well as MPs and the House of Lords seeking their support for voluntary sports clubs.
Malcolm Johnson,
Vice Chairman,
York District Sports Council,
Elvington Lane,
Grimston, York.
