TWO shops in prime areas of York are expected to sell for a combined total of at least £2.1 million at auction this month.
The building housing Pocket Phone Shop next door to Boots in Coney Street will be selling for a guide price of between £1.1 million and £1.2 million at a two-day auction organised by Allsop & Co, at The Berkeley Hotel, Knightsbridge, starting on Wednesday, October 18.
The property, including ground and two upper floors, yields an annual rent of £72,000 from The Pocket Phone Shop Ltd whose 20-year lease runs out next year.
Under the hammer in the same batch of lots on the morning of day one will be the freehold of a four-storey building occupied by Millets in nearby Market Street whose parent company, Eurohike, signed a 15-year lease in March last year with a rent of £70,000 a year. Guide price is between £950,000 and £975,000.
Also up for auction on the Thursday afternoon are Selby premises with a ground floor used by amusement arcade Leisuretime, in Gowthorpe. This has a starting price of £310,000.
The entire property is let to Leisurama Entertainments Ltd which is nearly six years into a 25-year lease, paying an annual rent of £27,500.
