TWO brothers have shown solidarity with their cancer victim sister - by taking part in a sponsored head shave.
The two, Ralph and Harry Atkinson, wanted to help sister Anne-Marie Collinson, of Acomb, who has lost all her hair through chemotherapy.
So on Friday, Harry, of Stamford Bridge, went into The Three Cups pub - where he is quizmaster and mum Jessie cleans - and came out minus his locks.
Ralph had his head shaved while working away in London.
Harry said: I wanted to show some solidarity with Anne-Marie, but also to raise awareness of cancer and raise some money for research at the same time.
"I'm glad I did it. It's a bit cold but I'm getting used to it - and people are even saying it suits me."
The shaving was done by pub assistant manager and former hairdresser Claire Hutchinson, who said Harry was "very good, he didn't flinch once."
She said: "Everyone thought it was a tremendous gesture.
"It is about typical of the Three Cups - there is a real community, family type atmosphere here."
The shave has raised over £300 for cancer research. Anyone who would like to make a donation should call in to the pub or ring 01759 375901.
