YORK RI completely out played Castleford in their Yorkshire Two encounter at New lane although their superiority was not reflected in the 15-6 scoreline.
Playing open running rugby, RI kept Castleford penned in their own half creating numerous chances but taking only two.
The only try in the first period came in the 23rd minute for Matthew Madigan who later went off with a calf injury. He was replaced by Sam Harland.
Castleford's only foray into RI territory was just before the break when a dropped pass saw Castleford centre Craig Dudley hack through to the RI line. RI transgressed at the following maul and Dudley kicked the resulting penalty to make the half-time score 5-3.
The second half was very much a mirror of the first with RI doing the attacking and Castleford defending. The stalemate was eventually broken on the hour when a powerful drive by Manu Fotu broke through the Castleford defence and the ball was fed to Ashley Casey who scored under the posts. Matthew Yates converted for a 12-3 lead.
That was extended minutes later when Yates kicked the penalty. On the stroke of full time Dudley kicked a second penalty for Cas.
