A SELBY pub has raised abou £1,000 for a play group in one day.
The Gypsy Moth, in Flaxley Road, organised a bungee jump and car boot sale at the nearby primary school on Saturday for Oscar's play group.
Despite the rain, intrepid jumpers leapt from a cage attached to a crane 200ft in the air.
The fun carried on all day, with a bouncy castle, face painting, raffles and a disco - with landlday Bev McCarthy getting into the spirit of things dressed as Cher.
The evening karaoke competition was won by a local girl known as CJ, who arrived on stage as Whoopie Goldberg and picked up £50 and an overnight stay at the Queen's Hotel, in York.
Runner-up Sue Kyle won £50, and third-placed Sonya Midwood was awarded £25.
All the karaoke prize money was donated by Leonard Matthews, landlord of the Unicorn.
Mrs McCarthy thanked everyone who took part and gave so generously.
She said: "We raised £234 in loose change alone when we went round with collection tins during the karaoke.
"And despite the bad weather, the people who took part in the bungee jumping said it was absolutely brilliant."
