READING books helped pupils at Huntington School in York raise nearly £1,000 for two charities in an evening earlier this year.
Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 took part in Readathon 2001, a sponsored reading event which took place earlier this year, and this week they got together again to hand over the proceeds to The Roald Dahl Foundation and the Sargent Care for Children.
Geoff Walker, head of the school library, said he was delighted that pupils had raised £959.27 in such a short time.
