A STUDENT website created in York has been shortlisted in a national awards scheme.
The website, based on the student newspaper, Vision, one of two newspapers written by and for students at the University of York, has been shortlisted in the 23rd Guardian Student Media awards.
The website has sections for news, features and reviews as well as up-to-date national news using material taken from the Guardian Unlimited site. Its web editor is Jonathan Carr and deputy web editor is Matthew Pettitt.
The shortlist for the awards was decided by a judging panel that included Alan Rusbridger (Guardian editor), Alistair Campbell (Government chief press secretary), Jon Snow (Channel 4 News), Andrew Marr (BBC political editor) and George Alagiah.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Central London on October 17, to which representatives from shortlisted publications are invited.
