YORK City mascot Yorkie, pictured, has been putting the finishing touches to his preparations for tomorrow's British Mascot Grand National.
The big showdown, at Huntingdon Racecourse, has attracted a record number of entries.
Yorkie may be something of a fans' favourite but his pedigree has not been recognised by the bookies, who have priced him at 33-1.
Hot favourite is Muttley, from the Racing Post, at 9-1.
Last year's winner, Watford's Harry the Hornet, is hoping to sting the bookies at 16-1.
Yorkie has blamed the 'call of the curry house' for hindering his preparations.
He has a better chance of winning the best supported mascot award. He is in second-place behind Phoney Pony of the Yorkshire Dales Trekking Centre.
As reported in the Evening Press this week, fans can vote for their favourite mascot at www.discover-racing.com with a £500 charitable donation up for grabs. Voting ends at midnight tonight.
