MECHCOMMANDER 2 puts you in charge of a squad of mercenary robots, sending them to war on alien planets and fulfilling various missions along the way.

Between these missions, you get to choose which Battlemechs (the mighty robots) you want to take with you and what to arm them with.

Controlling your mechs is easy, just click on them and click on where you want to go. If you are sending them up against the enemy, the cursor turns red, or green if it's an ally.

Graphics are OK, if nothing flash, and the user interface can be a bit of a pain sometimes because it feels like it isn't responding to your clicking immediately.

So, on to battle... which proves very addictive as you spend hours blasting your way through other mechs to complete the missions. Another plus point is the ability to customise the mechs and decide which pilot you should put on board each one.

The action is quick - and the gameplay brilliant - which makes for an excellent game overall.

Go on punk, mech my day.
